Why compare?

Most platforms make pricing complicated.

We make it simple.

Buried tip prompts, monthly subscription tiers, processing fees that compound. MemberDrive charges 1% of donations processed. Simple. Below, we compare MemberDrive to the platforms nonprofits, churches, and schools evaluate most often.

Head-to-head

Pick a comparison

Zeffy
Zero fees — funded by optional donor tips.

Zeffy is genuinely free for your org, but donors see a tip prompt at checkout. We charge 1% instead, with no ask made of your donors.

MemberDrive vs. Zeffy
Givebutter
Free when tips are on. 3% when they're off.

Givebutter is a full-featured platform with a pricing model that depends on whether your donors tip. We keep it simple: 1%, no tips, no monthly fees.

MemberDrive vs. Givebutter
Donorbox
Popular embeddable forms with tiered monthly plans.

Donorbox charges 2.95%–3.95% plus up to $139/month. MemberDrive charges 1% with no monthly fee — and adds matching gifts and pledges Donorbox doesn't have.

MemberDrive vs. Donorbox
Anedot
No monthly fee — but 3.3% per transaction.

Anedot is popular with churches and schools. So are we — at less than a third of their per-transaction rate, plus features like matching gifts they don't offer.

MemberDrive vs. Anedot
Fundraise Up
AI-optimized checkout for enterprise nonprofits.

Fundraise Up is the best AI-optimized donation form in the market. They charge 4% but claim 10–15% revenue lift. For organizations under $500K, MemberDrive's 1% is dramatically cheaper.

MemberDrive vs. Fundraise Up
Funraise
5% free tier. $0.60 per transaction.

Funraise has genuine product depth — CRM, events, auctions — but their free tier is the highest fee in our set at 5% + $0.60/transaction. MemberDrive is 1% flat.

MemberDrive vs. Funraise
Qgiv
3.95% free tier. Modular pricing.

Qgiv (now Bloomerang Fundraising) has gala-grade auctions and strong P2P — but peer-to-peer is a $259/month module. MemberDrive includes it at 1%.

MemberDrive vs. Qgiv
Subsplash
Church app and streaming platform.

Subsplash is built for churches that need custom apps and multi-platform streaming. If your primary need is fundraising, the comparison looks different.

MemberDrive vs. Subsplash
The Giving Block
Custodial crypto donations. 3.95%.

The Giving Block converts crypto to USD automatically. MemberDrive sends Bitcoin directly to your wallet — non-custodial, on-chain, at 1%.

MemberDrive vs. The Giving Block
Tithe.ly
50,000+ churches. No platform fee.

Tithe.ly is the largest church-specific giving platform in the US. For standard church giving, they're genuinely competitive — but they don't offer matching gifts or Bitcoin.

Common questions

FAQ

How is MemberDrive free to start?+
There's no monthly fee and no setup cost. You only pay 1% when donations are processed. For organizations just getting started, your cost is effectively zero until donors give.
Does MemberDrive hide fees like a donor tip?+
No. We charge 1% of donations processed — that's our only platform revenue. We don't prompt donors to leave a tip for MemberDrive at checkout. We do offer an optional "cover the fees" checkbox that lets donors voluntarily absorb the processing and platform fees if they choose — but this is presented transparently, never pre-selected, and the choice belongs entirely to the donor.
What does the 1% fee actually cover?+
MemberDrive's 1% is a platform fee — our charge for the software. It's separate from payment processing fees, which go to Stripe (not us). Stripe's standard rates are approximately 2.9% + $0.30 for credit cards and 0.7% for ACH bank transfers. Stripe also offers reduced nonprofit rates for eligible organizations. So on a $100 credit card donation, Stripe takes roughly $3.20, MemberDrive takes $1.00, and your organization receives approximately $95.80 — or more if the donor opts to cover fees.
What makes MemberDrive different from Zeffy or Givebutter?+
Both Zeffy and Givebutter are free to your organization but funded by prompting your donors to leave an optional tip at checkout — typically pre-selected at 10–15% of the donation amount. MemberDrive charges 1% directly, with no tip prompt shown to donors. We also offer matching gifts and pledge tracking that neither platform provides, plus a built-in email newsletter with double opt-in — included at no extra charge, where Givebutter requires a paid Plus plan.
How is "cover the fees" different from a tip prompt?+

They sound similar but they're fundamentally different asks.

When MemberDrive offers donors the option to cover fees, the question is:"Would you like to cover the processing and platform costs so that 100% of your gift reaches [organization]?" The amount is exact and disclosed. The beneficiary is the cause. The checkbox is opt-in, never pre-selected. A donor who declines pays exactly what they intended to give — nothing more.

Zeffy's tip prompt asks donors to also support Zeffy — the software company — on top of their intended gift. The default tip is pre-selected at a percentage of the donation amount (typically 10–15%). Opting out requires the donor to notice the prompt, click to adjust it, and manually set it to zero. Many donors don't — which is precisely how Zeffy generates revenue.

One is an offer to be generous toward the mission. The other is a charge toward the platform, dressed as optional. We think that's a meaningful difference, especially for organizations that care about the integrity of every donor interaction.

Do you require a 501(c)(3)?+
No. MemberDrive works for nonprofits, churches, schools, political organizations, homeschool co-ops, and individual fundraisers.
