Frequently Asked Questions
How much does MemberDrive cost?
MemberDrive charges 1% of donations processed. There is no monthly fee, no setup fee, and no hidden charges. You only pay when donations come in. Payment processing fees (Stripe's standard rates) apply separately.
Is there a free nonprofit fundraising platform?
MemberDrive has no monthly subscription — you only pay 1% of donations actually collected. For organizations with low donation volume, this is effectively free. Zeffy charges 0% but relies on optional donor tips to cover their costs. MemberDrive does not ask donors for tips.
Does MemberDrive accept Bitcoin donations?
Yes. MemberDrive natively supports on-chain Bitcoin donations. Donations are non-custodial — funds go directly to your organization's Bitcoin wallet. No third-party custody. No exchange required.
Does MemberDrive support recurring donations?
Yes. MemberDrive supports automatic recurring memberships — monthly, annual, or custom schedules. Donors can manage, pause, or cancel their own recurring giving through the donor self-service portal. Organizations can track and collect multi-year pledges.
What is the difference between MemberDrive and DonorBox?
MemberDrive charges 1% of donations with no monthly fee. DonorBox charges 1.5% plus Stripe fees, with a free tier limited to 500 donations per year before requiring a paid plan ($139–$399/month). MemberDrive also includes native on-chain Bitcoin support, which DonorBox does not offer.
Does MemberDrive support matching gifts?
Yes. MemberDrive supports donor-initiated matching gifts. A lead donor commits to match other donors' contributions at a multiplier they choose (1x, 2x, 3x, or custom), up to a maximum amount. Matching windows can be time-bound to create urgency, progress is tracked publicly in real time, and MemberDrive automatically generates an invoice for the lead donor when the match completes.
Can a church use MemberDrive for online tithing?
Yes. MemberDrive is used by churches and faith communities for online tithing and recurring giving. It supports automatic recurring memberships for weekly, monthly, or annual giving, and gives donors a self-service portal to manage their giving without contacting your office.
What types of organizations use MemberDrive?
MemberDrive is designed for small organizations with annual budgets under $5 million, including:
- 501(c)(3) nonprofits
- Churches, ministries, and faith communities
- Homeschool co-ops and private schools (including classical Christian schools)

Does MemberDrive have a donor self-service portal?

What payment methods does MemberDrive support?

How long does it take to set up MemberDrive?
Most organizations set up a live donation page in under 10 minutes. You need a MemberDrive account and a connected Stripe account.
