Honest Comparison

MemberDrive vs. Qgiv

Qgiv was recently rebranded as Bloomerang Fundraising after its acquisition. It's a well-regarded platform — but its pricing model rewards complexity. Ours doesn't.

A note on naming

Qgiv was acquired by Bloomerang in January 2024 and rebranded as Bloomerang Fundraising in September 2025. The platform and its pricing structure remain largely intact. This page uses both names interchangeably.

The honest comparison

Qgiv has a strong reputation, particularly for peer-to-peer campaigns (walks, runs, galas) and event auctions. Their free tier provides a low-commitment entry point, and their customer support reviews are consistently excellent.

Their pricing model, however, requires careful reading. The free tier carries a 3.95% + $0.30 platform fee — plus an additional 1% for P2P transactions and 1% for American Express cards. Advanced features (text fundraising, peer-to-peer, auctions) are each sold as separate monthly modules at $159–$259/month each.

MemberDrive charges 1%. Peer-to-peer is included. There are no modules.

On the free tier, Qgiv's 3.95% is nearly 4× MemberDrive's 1%. The gap closes once an org pays Qgiv's $25/month Essentials plan and gets lower processing rates — at around $50K–$80K in annual giving, Qgiv Essentials becomes cost-competitive with us. Above that, they have a genuine pricing advantage. Below it, we're meaningfully cheaper.

Where Qgiv wins

Qgiv's auction platform is gala-grade — mobile bidding, paddle management, real event experience. If your organization runs a signature fundraising event, this is meaningful. Their P2P platform (on the module) is mature, with team pages and video embeds suited for walks, runs, and rides. Their text fundraising module covers a gap we don't fill.

Customer support is a consistent Qgiv strength across review platforms — described as friendly, accessible, and responsive even on the free tier. That reputation is real and worth acknowledging.

As part of Bloomerang, Qgiv also offers native sync to the Bloomerang CRM, plus integrations with Salesforce and DonorPerfect — the standard ecosystem for mid-market nonprofits.

Where MemberDrive wins

Price on the free tier. Qgiv's 3.95% is nearly 4× our 1% for orgs that don't upgrade. For organizations under $50K in annual giving, MemberDrive is materially cheaper.

No module ladder. Qgiv charges $159/month for text fundraising, $259/month for P2P, and $259/month for auctions — separately. An organization running a P2P campaign with text fundraising pays $443/month in modules before any processing fees. MemberDrive's P2P is included at 1% with no add-on.

Pledge tracking. Not available in Qgiv. For churches and schools running capital campaigns or building funds with multi-year donor commitments, this is a significant gap.

Native matching gifts. Qgiv offers matching gifts via third-party integration. MemberDrive's is a native lead-donor multiplier engine — a major donor sets a match, donors see real-time progress, and the lead donor receives an invoice when the window closes. Built for capital campaigns, not employer-match lookups.

Bitcoin. Qgiv has no crypto story. MemberDrive offers native, on-custodial Bitcoin and Lightning support.

No acquisition risk. Qgiv is now part of Bloomerang — and Bloomerang appears to be moving toward requiring the CRM to access Qgiv fundraising tools, at a combined $524/month bundle. Organizations that want Qgiv's fundraising features without Bloomerang's CRM may find that path narrowing. MemberDrive is independently operated with no consolidation pressure.

Family-owned and independent. For organizations that specifically value independent, mission-aligned operators, the contrast between a VC-backed acquisition rollup and a family-owned platform is meaningful.

A note on Qgiv's acquisition trajectory

Qgiv's January 2024 acquisition by Bloomerang and September 2025 rebrand to "Bloomerang Fundraising" reflects a broader consolidation trend in nonprofit technology (OneCause → Bonterra, Fundly → Lumaverse, Kindful → Bloomerang). For organizations that liked Qgiv as a standalone product and don't need Bloomerang's CRM, it's worth asking whether the standalone fundraising path will remain available long-term — and at what price.

MemberDrive is independently operated. We're not on an acquisition path, and your pricing won't change because a parent company needs to cross-sell you into a $524/month bundle.

Who should choose

Who should choose Qgiv

  • Organizations that run serious gala events, silent auctions, or walks/runs/rides and need the full module suite
  • Organizations already using Bloomerang CRM that want native sync
  • Organizations over ~$80K in annual giving that qualify for Qgiv Essentials' lower per-transaction rate
  • Organizations that need text-to-give

Who should choose MemberDrive

  • Organizations under $80K annual giving where free-tier pricing matters (1% vs. 3.95%)
  • Organizations that need peer-to-peer without a $259/month module fee
  • Organizations running capital campaigns with multi-year pledge tracking
  • Churches and schools that want Bitcoin support
  • Organizations that don't want to risk being absorbed into a $524/month CRM bundle as acquisition strategy plays out

No modules. No acquisition risk. Just 1%.

MemberDrive includes peer-to-peer, matching gifts, pledges, and Bitcoin at 1% — with no feature modules to unlock and no parent company upselling you into a CRM bundle.
