What's New: Contact email for every Member

MemberDrive Team

Hey Fans! Members used to share one email with their sign-in account. That worked until you needed receipts to go somewhere else — a bookkeeper, a household address, or a work inbox — without changing how they log in. Each Member now has its own Contact email.

Contact email is separate from sign-in

On the Member form in your dashboard, the old locked Email field is now an editable Contact email. The hint says it plainly: where receipts and updates go, and it does not change how the Member signs in. New Members start with the Contact email copied from their Login email; after that you can change them independently. If someone updates their Login email and the Contact email still matched the old one, we follow that change so nothing drifts by accident. A Contact email you already customized stays put.

Managers and Members can both set it

Managers can set or clear Contact email when they create or edit a Member. Members can edit their own Contact email on their profile too. At Checkout, a blank Contact email gets filled from what the donor enters — we never overwrite one that is already set.

Mail, Stripe, search, and the timeline use it

Receipts, payment notices, and the other Member mail we send now go to the Contact email. Stripe Customer email uses it as well. Search and Member lists look at Contact email, and when it changes, the Member timeline records the old and new value like other detail changes.

Why it matters

Sign-in and “where should this receipt go” are different jobs. Splitting them means your records stay accurate without forcing someone to change how they access their account. As always, if something feels off, reply and tell me.
