Our driver for many years, Derival Guertho, is a college educated agronomist but employment being what it is in Haiti was not able to find a job in agriculture.  We put him to work teaching kids how to grow vegetables in small spaces.

Derival is an exceptional teacher. He made a proposal to be an Agriculture Advisor to two small villages in the area. PEACE Project took him up on it and created our Agriculture Support program. He is now helping villagers grow more and better crops. More to sell at market and more for the table at home.

Haiti (Ayiti in original language) means "land of high mountains". Farming here takes special knowledge and care.

Haiti can be a lush, productive country with a little help. Our friend Derival is an extremely dedicated person with a passion for agriculture and helping people.
